Whose bright idea was a 15-ton Obama sand sculpture for the Democratic convention?

I’m pretty sure this is being built in Myrtle Beach, by “Team Sandtastic”. At least, that’s what The Charlotte Observer says. 

Myrtle Beach is in South Carolina. The convention is North Carolina. 

Here’s the original link. I can’t vouch for it and if a conservative blog posted something untrue this wouldn’t be the first time. But the story says the sand was trucked in from Myrtle Beach.

oh HEY I’ll be in Charlotte tomorrow and then Myrtle Beach on Friday. will verify and report back.
